In the last few months it has occurred to me that the Democratic Party has become more hateful towards American citizens who are not like them. And so have members like Charlie Rangel. Rangel doesn’t care too much for disabled people either. His disgusting interview with a TV station makes me sick to the core, as I am a female Navy veteran, who is disabled through service to my country.
Rangel’s rather narrow view became quite clear in a the interview. In the interview he called Sarah Palin “disabled”. When the reporter called him on it, he tried to make it better, he called her “disabled politically”. I believe there was a veiled comment about her last child. As he tried to make his talking points sound better he just really stepped in the cow shit.
This is just unbelievable. Roll the tape!
My disgust with Rangel and his type runs deep. I am not the only disabled person in my family, my brother has mental retardation and autism. I grew up with the belief he is no different than I am just had different challenges to meet over the years. And there are so many wonderful times I spent with my brother, so many funny, side splitting stories, and too many of them to tell.
Sometimes it is heart breaking when in one minute I know he is an adult but still a child in so many ways. But he has always given me an unconditional love. There are no boundaries to his love. He puts no set requirements on his love. And I don’t have to open my “checkbook” for him, just return my love in the same manner.
And it is that kind of love and learned behavior that is lost in the mire and quicksand of the “new” Democratic Party. The Democratic Party no longer has a flag ship, instead it is adrift in its own morass. Party members like Carol Fowler of South Carolina and now Charlie Rangel of New York are poor excuses of humanity, lashing out because there is no central message except make sure you insult everyone you can. It is no longer the party of the people, the people have been left behind. People like me and you have become nothing more than a open checkbook.
It is time for the “new” Democrat to look hard inside oneself, if at all possible, take stock of who they are. When they are done with this self analysis, I hope they realize they are loathsome human beings. I hope they can feel and see their own bitterness and filth. And I hope that the “new”Democrat realizes that they have left humanity and empathy behind.
And I hope the “new” Democrat doesn’t let the door hit them in the ass on the way out in November because I am fighting for your defeat, whoever and where ever you are.
