Obama Starts The Snubs. The People NOT Invited To The Convention.

Well, I am not sure what Barack Obama is thinking, but he is snubbing a lot of very heavy hitters in the Democratic party and is sure to make a ton of enemies doing it.

So who has he told to NOT come to the convention?

1.  Kwame Kilpatrick – this was predictable, but he is an important politician in the black community and there are a lot of people not very happy about this.  I mean, I understand no speaking role, but a don’t even come?  WOW.  Even Marion Berry got treated better than that if I remember correctly…  and he was caught smoking crack with a hooker?

2.  Charlie Rangel – Arguably the most important African American in Congress, not to mention one of the most powerful people in Congress PERIOD.  This is the man who is in charge of tax policy in the United States.  This is the last guy you want to piss off, and Charlie is reportedly pretty unhappy with the snub.

3.  Wesley Clark – WOW.  Obama must have brain damage.  4 Star General Wesley Clark has been told that there is no reason to come to the convention…  which is political speak for “F off.”  Clark is beloved by the netroots, has a huge fan base, is an important fundraiser in the party getting downticket Dems elected… and would be an absoultely essential supporter for Obama, shoring up his lack of a military record…  foreign policy record…  diplomatic record…  any sort of record what so ever?

I wonder who else Obama uninvites from the DEMOCRATIC PARTY’s Convention?

Best Of The Rest – Mark Penn And His 5 Point Swing.

In the emails and memos the Atlantic recently uncovered from inside the Clinton campaign comes a little memo from Clinton’s chief strategist.  Mark Penn spoke about the weakness of Obama in all the battleground states and how only a 5pt swing towards McCain would result in a crushing defeat for Obama in the General Election.

Well, it was nearly a year ago when Penn made this prediction…  and I bet you are wondering how accurate he was in his predictions.

AnnieNYC: I Ran Into Keith Olberman Tonight

AnnieNYC is an extremely active PUMA from NYC.  She is out several times a week handing out fliers, setting up tables, talking to people, organizing events and attending meetings.

Well, tonight, she was running late to a meeting and bumped into Keith Olberman…  the following is a story of that encounter.

I was going fliering tonight and walked past the NBC building, on his way walking to the building i ran into KO. I stopped him “are you keith olberman?” him in bold. there is some stuff missing, but most of it is here. He was nervous and nerdy, hands in his pockets the whole time, he really seemed like a hollow fool. i was actually very surprised, i thought he had more than this.

The entire time, NO INTELLECTUAL RESPONSE WHAT-SO-EVER. NONE. NADA. ZILCH. Nothing new, just anything that some uninformed kid on the street would say. WOW. i was blown away by how lame his responses were. amazing. He even at one point mentioned that he was called a misogynist, as if he couldn’t understand why! wow.

 

I have one thing to say about that…  actually, just one word….

Hillary Super Delegate Shot In Arkansas – updated. SD Killed.

The Arkansas Democratic Party says the chairman, Bill Gwatney, is hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting at party headquarters in downtown Little Rock.  Little Rock police say a suspect in the shooting was shot after after a chase that ended near Sheridan in Grant County.

 

A sales clerk at a flower shop across street from the party headquarters said that around noon, Gwatney’s secretary ran into the shop and asked someone to call 911. She said a man had come into the party headquarters and shot Gwatney several times.

The suspect reportedly entered the party headquarters and asked to speak with Gwatney before firing three shots.

I dont know what the hell is going on, all I know is that in an office full of people, only ONE person gets shot…  The Super Delegate.

I will update as I know more.

UPDATE:  the police caught the guy after a high speed chase.  White, 40s and the police shot him.  Condition unknown.

Update:  The suspect has died of gunshot wounds after an exchange with police

 

Final Update:  I am sorry to report that Mr. Gwatney has passed away from his wounds.  He was a great man who did a lot for the Democratic party.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this tragic time.

Democratic Voter Drive In Louisiana Registers… Dead People, Dogs, And Cats?

On the heels of the reports of ACORN voter registration irregularities in New Mexico brought to light by GRL at Insight Analytical comes a new report about irregularities in New Orleans and the surrounding parishes (aka counties).

A group called Voting Is Power,  is funded by the national DNC, has submitted about 50,000 voter registration cards from 4 different parishes…  problem is that on these cards include the names of dogs, cats, dead people…  and apparently the guy in charge of verifying that the cards are real?

The Times Picayune reports that:

While Voting Is Power has sent in batches of applications for months, registrars have begun to see a disturbing pattern of misinformation on the forms, including duplicates, cards filled out with different colors of ink, or using the names of pets or dead people. In Jefferson, DiMarco sensed something amiss when a new registration card recently crossed his desk.

The card, partially filled out, had his name and listed his office’s post office box on Citrus Boulevard as the address. It also listed him as a male, a Democrat and African-American.

“And I can tell you I’m only one of those,” said DiMarco, who is white and Republican. There was one bright spot, though. “They flattered me by making me younger — I did appreciate that.”

 

Real smooth…  the head of the Post Office for the parish, who would know if there was another person with the same name in that parish, gets a voter registration card with his name on it???

And pets???  Seriously???  Between ACORN and VIP, we might have a Garfield/Lassie ’08 ticket…

“Accountable America:” The Re-Education Express From Hell

Liberal Rapture has a fantastic article on a new organization called “Accountable America.” 

Liberal Rapture has the following to say about them…

A bunch of Obama whores named Accountable America is about to start a real s**tstorm. This group sent out a warning letter that, in essence, says that donors to the GOP will be dragged through the mud. The warning letter is intended as a first step, alerting donors who might be considering giving to right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers, including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups digging through their lives.

Nice. Give to the NRA – get a subpoena!Trashing right wing donors on a personal level is another sign that the “liberals” now in control of the once great Democratic Party are contemptuous of the individual. this for another example. A male DNC lawyer screamed at a female lawyer defending a gay man who was fired by the DNC. Saying she must not contradict him and “know her place!” The infection is spreading.

WOW…  so they are going to dig out the skeletons of the people that donate to Republican or Right Wing groups?

Let me rephrase to be clear – These people are not going to attack McCain or any other politician.  They are not going to attack any political platform.  They are not even going to attack the organizations themselves.  They are going to attack DONORS.

DONORS?  Seriously?  They are going to attack private citizens that donate to organizations that represent the issues they care about?

It’s not voter intimidation…  it’s donor intimidation.

Now, the group does claim that they are going to be targeting potential swiftboaters, but where is that line drawn…  and who gets to draw the line between an organization that criticizes and one that could “swift boat”…  or even between what is a swift boat and what is not.

You might scoff at that, but those lines can get very blurry at the edges and it’s pretty easy to push those lines further back…  you know, just in case. 

How soon till we see some conservative housewife in Nebraska will be subject to ridicule because she once did something young and dumb in college…  all because she was “outed” by a group that did not like her donation to a “pro-life” group.

This is a slippery slope, and a pretty dangerous one.

UPDATE – Obama Pulls Edwards From Convention

We recently found out that Edwards did have an affair with the documentary film maker, and now Barack Obama has come out with his reaction…

In an extremely well practiced move, Edwards is under the bus.  I know…  you are shocked.  I can feel it….

Obama says that John Edwards will not have a role at the Democratic National Convention in Denver at the end of the month.

John Edwards’ admission that he had an extramarital affair puts pressure on Sen. Barack Obama to quickly distance himself from the former North Carolina senator and prominent Democrats are calling on him to announce immediately that Edwards will not have any role at the Democratic National Convention.

Obama was traveling to Hawaii for a weeklong vacation at the time the story broke, but upon landing in Honolulu told reporters Edwards has indicated that he won’t be speaking at the convention.

I am just waiting for the “He is not the John Edwards I once knew” comment out of Barry Obama…

I was never a huge John Edwards fan, though I did respect him and especially his wife Elizabeth, but I think this is a very sad loss for the Democratic party.

Democratic Underground Called Out For Homophobic Commentary

Democratic Underground (aka DU) is a very large “Democratic” discussion board with a huge membership.

It has also been one of the central places from which the Obamanation has eminated, encouraged by places such as the DailyKos and The Huffington Post, where voices of dissent were drummed out or banned (aka Tombstoned or TS’d).

The moderators claim to have no tolerance for “hate language,” but the hundreds of people banned from the board for nothing more than not supporting Barack Obama know differently.  Those people dealt with some of the foulest language and accusations possible. 

No, the LavenderLiberal is calling out DU on it’s insideous undercurrent of homophobia.

Normally, I breeze by the homophobic garbage on Democratic Underground, partly because I don’t haunt the halls of DU anymore (unless I’m tipped off to a particularly interesting meltdown going on in real-time), and mostly because I don’t see the point in torturing myself watching my people battle those hopelessly (and happily) entrenched in their own bigotry. I wasted six years battling the “Some of my best friends are gay, so I’m an expert on what’s homophobic and what’s not” brigades myself, and it was, indeed, a complete waste of time I could have spent doing something, anything, more productive… like trying to teach goldfish to drive.

Hearing there was something of a meltdown going on (again), I ran across a post by a gay DUer I’ve long liked and respected, who (for the umpteenth time for any LGBT DUer) pointed out the pervasive compulsion to label George W. Bush, or Karl Rove, or pretty much any right-winger as “gay.” This is different from outing a right-winger who really is gay (or at least a verifiable down-low type like Larry Craig); this is the Everyone We Hate is Gay syndrome, and it’s ugly, and extremely offensive to gay people.

After reading the usual “I don’t see any homophobia, so it doesn’t exist” replies from DUers who either have a serious memory disorder, or feign blindness to the neverending stream of homophobia right in front of their keyboards, I thought I’d ever-so-helpfully dredge up a few examples of what they’re “not seeing”… which, apparently, is too herculean a task for the Google-impaired.

The article goes on to list a few dozen examples of homophobic content from DU itself…  including gems such as “Hillary Clinton is a lesbian…  and she is doing a Pakistani Muslim!!!!”

Landstuhl Hospital Update: Fmr Director of Trauma Surgery Slams Obama for Cancel

Today, Dr. Danny Jazarevic, who served as the Chief of Trauma, Critical Care and Vascular Surgery at Landstuhl, issued the following statement on Barack Obama’s canceled visit to Ramstein and Landstuhl:

“Last week, Senator Obama skipped a visit with wounded U.S. troops at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany because the Pentagon would not allow campaign staff or media to accompany him into the hospital. I served as director of trauma surgery at that hospital for nearly four years and saw the effect that a visit from a celebrity like Senator Obama could have on morale. During that time, I do not recall a single member of Congress canceling a visit with the troops despite being just a few hours away, but Senator Obama seems to have been more concerned with how the visit would affect him than how it would affect the soldiers recovering from wounds received in the service of their country.”

This does not take into consideration the thousands of dollars contributed to state Democratic committees, $56,700 of which went to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during 2005-2007, which was in addition to the $300,000 contributed to the DSCC from Obama’s Obama for Illinois PAC.

This does not include money donated in 2006 from Obama’s Obama 2010 Inc. PAC: $1,500 to the Ohio Democratic Party 07/13/06 and $2,500 to the New Hampshire Democratic Party 12/16/06.

Personally, I want to know 6 things…

1.  In 2004 why is a person RUNNING FOR SENATE with “no plans to run for president” donating half a million dollars or more to the party and to other Congressional campaigns?

2.  As an “unknown”, where the hell is all that money coming from?  Most of those people struggle to build their own warchest and are extatic with $2500-5000 donations, but he is GIVING away millions over the last 3-4 years?  Millions.  Who is giving an “unknown” so much money?  Where is it coming from?  Rezko?  Khalidi?  Auchi?  Ayers?  Worse?

3.  Funny that the year he donates $300,000 to the DSCC, the unknown candidate for Senate from Illinois gets a prime speaking spot at the DNC Convention.  Shocking, huh?

4.  Funny that HillPac is the “largest” PAC in the US (iirc) and yet Obama’s is donating 3 to 30 times the amounts HillPac did…  and directly to people that are the key to getting him elected.

5.  You might say “it’s smart politics” and you would be right.  It is.  But it looks really really bad when a Super Delegate has gotten a considerable amount of money and chooses to vote for the “donor” against the wishes of their own constituency.   Really bad. 

6.  Doesn’t this appear to be the exact thing that Obama points to when he makes all that noise about lobbyists and not taking their money?  The possibility of hypocrisy astounds me.

Alaska’s Republican Senator Ted Stevens Indicted

“Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, the longest-serving Republican senator in United States history and a figure of great influence in Washington as well as in his home state, has been indicted on federal charges of failing to report gifts and income.

Mr. Stevens, 84, was indicted on seven felony counts related to renovations on his home in Alaska. The charges arise from an investigation that has been under way for more than a year, in connection with the senator’s relationship with a businessman who oversaw the home-remodeling project.

The indictment will surely reverberate through the November elections. Mr. Stevens, who has been in the Senate for 40 years, is up for re-election this year. Mark Begich, a popular Democratic mayor of Anchorage, hopes to supplant him.”

This is good news for the Democrats.  Looks like they are picking up one more seat in the Senate.

Hopefully it will be one with a backbone…

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that Obama raised in a year what it took Clinton several years to build?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that the party elders like Kerry and Kennedy would back an unknown newbie, even though their constituency was clearly held the opposite view?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that the DNC would facilitate the defeat and smearing of the 2 most popular and well known Democrats in the country and in the world?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that the Clintons, of all people, get accused of racism in the same state that McCain got smeared only 8 years earlier?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that Obama’s supporters regularly threaten the lives of average citizens, bloggers and media personalities and yet neither the Obama camp nor the Democratic Party says anything about it?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that Obama’s supporters threats have been so credible that people like Tavis Smiley had to resign from his radio show because of them…  and still the Obama camp and DNC say nothing?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that the Obama camp and the DNC talk about “unity” and yet make no moves towards it?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that a political party and it’s officials would tell millions of supporters to get out of the party, that they are republican plants and to stay home?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that a political party would do absolutely nothing about losing millions of voters and addressing their concerns…  instead blowing them off and saying “they will vote for us anyway.”

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that the DNC and the Obama camp is so resistant to the prospect of even a Clinton Vice Presidency that it borders on being publically rude even though it is absolutely clear that the majority of Americans want it?

Doesn’t anyone in the media find it odd that in a “there is no way a Democrat can lose” year that Obama is tied in the polls, and yet the Obama campaign and the DNC could still give less than a crap about millions of voters?

 

Reporters, why aren’t you asking these questions? 

The last two elections were decided by only a few thousand votes, and this one is shaping up to be a squeaker too if the polling trends continue.

Adopt a PUMA… Literally.

This is my new little side project.  A member of Capital Hill Forum, lachattefolle, brought this to my attention…

There is a place called Tiger Haven in Tennessee that takes care of abandoned, mistreated, and disabled Big Cats…  They have TONS of them, but they actually have about 30 Pumas (aka cougars) that you can “adopt.”  This is a no-kill shelter, a permanent home, and these cats do not work.  They are fed, loved and cared for…  and that is all!

I am calling on all PUMA’s to go to www.tigerhaven.org and “adopt” a puma.  You can also see their pictures under the “Meet the Cats” section!

 

 When filling out the donation form, there is a section where you can enter the name of your company/organization…  Please enter P.U.M.A. and do not forget.  We want to be able to keep track of PUMA donations.
