Media outlets around the nation heralded the news yesterday that Hillary Clinton’s name would finally be placed in nomination and that a roll call would take place at the upcoming Democratic National Convention. The story was considered important because of the 2 months of lobbying by Clinton’s supporters to secure her place on the DNC ballot. Although media outlets were quick to report the news, most were just as quick to overlook the downside to the so-called victory for Clinton. After all, you can’t have a “deal” without concessions by both sides.

In reality, yesterday’s decision is nothing more than another propagandist message put forth by the Obama campaign and the DNC to attempt to re-attract Clinton supporters back to the Democratic party. Clinton’s name being “placed in nomination” is essentially pointless considering that the agreement also called for Clinton to release her delegates; a move that will all but assure the nomination of Obama. Best Of The Rest – Mark Penn And His 5 Point Swing.

In the emails and memos the Atlantic recently uncovered from inside the Clinton campaign comes a little memo from Clinton’s chief strategist.  Mark Penn spoke about the weakness of Obama in all the battleground states and how only a 5pt swing towards McCain would result in a crushing defeat for Obama in the General Election.

Well, it was nearly a year ago when Penn made this prediction…  and I bet you are wondering how accurate he was in his predictions.

AnnieNYC: I Ran Into Keith Olberman Tonight

AnnieNYC is an extremely active PUMA from NYC.  She is out several times a week handing out fliers, setting up tables, talking to people, organizing events and attending meetings.

Well, tonight, she was running late to a meeting and bumped into Keith Olberman…  the following is a story of that encounter.

I was going fliering tonight and walked past the NBC building, on his way walking to the building i ran into KO. I stopped him “are you keith olberman?” him in bold. there is some stuff missing, but most of it is here. He was nervous and nerdy, hands in his pockets the whole time, he really seemed like a hollow fool. i was actually very surprised, i thought he had more than this.

Ok, what is with the hillary hate.
I don’t hate her.
gimme a break. what is your problem with her, just tell me.
i don’t hate her, i hate her policies and tactics
her policies? Obama is to the right of her!
he’s moving to the middle because he’s trying to win!
the middle?! he agrees with alito and scalia on the death penalty, he actually wants *more* death penalties, what kind of policy is that? Now he’s against affirmative action…

well not only did he vote yay on fisa, but now at&t is sponsoring the convention. that’s ok with you?
well, i was very mad about his vote on fisa.
well at least hillary sticks to her guns and she wanted to win.

well he failed that test didn’t he, russia goes to war with georgia and all he can say is he wants a shave ice. and what about the smearing of the clintons as racist? what about those tactics, donna brazile and saying fairy tale is racist, clyburn, etc.

don’t you think it was his job to ratchet it down? do you know how many times i’ve been called racist for not supporting him? it was his job to ratchet that down, i campaigned for her in Philadelphia and we were treated like *shit* because of the smearing of her as a racist. Wasn’t it his job to deal with his supporters?

oh really? what about late may axelrod faxing YOUR worst person in the world report on her RFK comments to all the media, really? hillary is the worst person in the world?!
that was only 10 minutes, and that’s axelrod, it’s not him…
that’s the head of his campaign, he already had the win in the bag, and even now he hasn’t said what he needs to to ratchet down the hate. He could have said at any time “she’s a great lady and she’s worked throughout her life for civil rights, and he hasn’t.

The entire time, NO INTELLECTUAL RESPONSE WHAT-SO-EVER. NONE. NADA. ZILCH. Nothing new, just anything that some uninformed kid on the street would say. WOW. i was blown away by how lame his responses were. amazing. He even at one point mentioned that he was called a misogynist, as if he couldn’t understand why! wow.

 

I have one thing to say about that…  actually, just one word….

Awesome.

Best Of The Rest – The Problems In The DNC Run DEEP.

Shtuey over at Bitter Politicsz wrote a blistering expose of the “permenant” bureaucracy of the DNC and the incestuous hiring policies, as well as the consolidation of forces to push a more radical agenda at the expense of core constituencies of the larger party.

You lay the blame squarely on the shoulders of Coward Dean, Donna Grendel Brazile, Naughty Nazi Nancy, and Dirty Harry Reid. 1.  Leah is Howie’s Right Hand Person – she is functionally in charge of the DNC.

2.  Leah is a Pentacostal Minister, whose father is also a Pentacostal Minister

3.  Leah and her father preach Black Liberation Theology

4.  Leah speaks in “tongues” and considers it a gift from God…  yeah, for real…  tongues.

5.  Leah’s fathers church has banners on it’s walls calling for Reparations.

6.  She does not support gay marriage and is opposed to it for religious reasons.

7.  I repeat – THIS IS THE PERSON FUNCTIONALLY IN CHARGE OF MY POLITICAL PARTY?!?!?!

Mountain Sage comes out swinging once again with this spot on analysis of the Obama campaign’s tone.  I am a huge fan of this blog and it’s a regular stop for me…

This one in particular is called “Flashy Trashy”…  great title imo… great blog post too.

That’s how I see the Obama campaign and Obama. God knows his campaign has been flashy. Rock concerts, a plane with his very own logo, trite but catchy slogans like yes we can and we are the ones we have been waiting for. Wow, he even had his very own Vero Possumus seal (for a short time anyway.) Yes, it’s been impressive and flashy. But his campaign has also been trashy.

Some of the most flashy bits are also the most trashy. Seriously, his own version of a presidential seal? The O logo instead of the American flag on his plane? Rock concerts to pump up attendance at his speeches? Is that really the kind of ego driven campaign we expect from a potential president? If Obama were running for national event coordinator I could get with that program.

Holy God… Obama Lied… AGAIN… On His Illinois Bar Application No Less.

Holy Jeebus…  does it ever end with this guy?  Seriously.

TexasDarlin dug up an interesting little tidbit…  if this is true, apparently Barack “the precious” Obama lied on his application to the Illinois State Bar.

The Bar application asks about prior drug use and about unpaid criminal citations.

We are all very familiar with Obama’s admitted stories about drug use.  Well, according the the complaint, on the Bar application…  he LIED.

And apparently, he was very popular with the fuzz, and had several unpaid tickets he failed to disclose.  Well, according to the complaint, on the Bar application…  he LIED.

This is actually a pretty serious charge that can lead to disbarment, which is a death sentence for lawyers…

This post is a perfect example of why I love this blog.  Joe hits it out of the park on this one and shows the complete stupidity of the Obama camp, the DNC and the kool aid drinkers also known as Obamatrons.

These people called the people that don’t support Obama liars, racists and worse…  told us to get out of the party and repeated the words “we don’t need you to win” or “we can win without you.”  Even the wonderfully nice and kind Donna Brazille (can you feel the sarcasm?) told Clintonistas to stay home…

And now they are totally mystified at why PUMA exists and cannot fathom why we are not beating the Unity drum in tandem, falling in line like good little liberal soldiers…  and then continue to insult us to make us fall in line…

Well, Drill Sergeant DNC…  hell no.

“I hope those who already understand what I write here will bear with me as I try to clarify for others who are trying to learn so much so quickly about the ways and wiles of the DNC, its rules, its use of its rules, and most significantly the difference between having a roll call vote with Senator Clinton on the ballot and having Senator Clinton in nomination for the candidacy before that roll call happens.

Let’s start with an analogy. Baseball games often begin with some person designated to throw out the first pitch – indeed, George W. Bush did this for the first game of the Washington Nationals’ first season in their new stadium. But throwing that “first pitch” did not make Bush a true pitcher, it added him to no team roster. That is is because the entire episode iwas completely symbolic, a ritual that had no consequences for the outcome of the particular game itself.

Similarly a person’s name can be put on a roll call ballot at the Convention for purely symbolic reasons. Indeed from the time of the adoption of the McGovern Commission’s proposed rules for electing a Democratic presidential nominee until this year, all such roll call ballots including candidates other than the eventual nominee were only symbolic.”

So, even though Dean is acting like “Is Hillary Going To Be On The Ballot?” is a ridiculous question… the right one is not being asked!

 so here is the “story”….

Apparently she has a nephew that lives in NYC…  This nephew happened to be walking by the GE/NBC building one night as Brian Williams was walking out the door.  A note apparently fell out of Brian’s pocket as he jumped into a car and sped off.

The nephew, seeing the note fall out of Brian William’s pocket, picked it up, transcribed the contents and emailed a copy to GRL.

And Holy Crap is it greatness because if it’s real…  holy crap.  But it is just so bad that I don’t know…  regardless, a hilarious read and very funny….  (and possibly real)

Heck, I know he’s not even the official nominee yet, let alone the President, but we all thought it would be nice to break new ground and cover the trip.  Get sort of a preview of what might go on once he IS President. You know I’m doing all I can to make sure that happens! (SHHH, don’t let THAT get around!) Even though there won’t be any real news being made in terms of foreign policy, it will be fun to see Europe through Barack’s eyes. This will be almost as fun as when I interned and then worked in the White House when Jimmy Carter was there and Billy and Miss Lillian came for visits!

When the “progressive” blogosphere burst on the scene several years ago, I could not have been more thrilled. I was so tired of the corporate media covering up for the Deciderer and his criminal and anti-American activities. Here, at last, with the help of Talking Points Memo, Daily Kos, Huffington Post and Eschaton, I could find like-minded individuals who wanted to know what was REALLY going on and who had the resources to find out. I also could take action by joining Moveon.org and Democracy for America. It was a heady, wonderful time for me, and I thought we were all on the same page.

Then, things began to change.

Don’t Dare Disagree With Obama… Poking Holes In The Myth

Bill Maxwell, from the St. Petersburg Times, takes on the Obama camp and their knee jerk reactions and mob tactics. 

You had better mind your manners with regard to Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

You can’t disagree with him. You can’t question the legitimacy of his many platitudes and promises. And you had better watch it when you offer a litany of his flip-flops or point out his crass opportunism.

Be forewarned: If you say, sing, write, draw, paint or sculpt anything unflattering about Obama, expect the Spanish Inquisition. The salvational fervor and unfiltered euphoria surrounding the man have cast a halo around his head. A halo, as you know, suggests something otherworldly.

WTF?!?! Cannonfire Drops A Bomb – Kucinich Has A Surprise Witness?

One of my favorite bloggers, Cannonfire dug up something I had heard nothing about…

We all know that Pelosi and the media think that Kucinich is a joke, and while the guy does kinda look like an unfortunate Keebler elf, he is talking about some serious issues and bringing impeachment proceedings before the Congress.  This deserves some modicum of respect.

But, as Cannonfire quotes from CQ Politics, it seems that Kucinich might have a big friggin suprise up his sleeve:

An unidentified government official of a U.S. ally wants to participate if and when Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich makes his case to impeach President Bush before the House Judiciary Committee, according to the Ohio Democrat.

No matter how the eventual hearing is framed, Kucinich said he would like to be joined at the witness table by a foreign official he would not name.

“I’ve been contacted by representatives of a U.S. ally who are seeking an opportunity to appear before the Judiciary Committee,” he said in an interview.

“Legislative leaders of a foreign capital” have a “new angle that I haven’t thought of before but is relevant,” he said. “This interest in whether we’ve been told the truth has extended to other countries.”

Kucinich would not provide further detail.
