About

I am a former Foreign Policy Analyst for a “think tank” in DC specializing in US/Russian relations, though I am fairly conversant on the political climate of most regions in the world.  Also, I have lived in several countries, even more states and speak 3 to 4 languages decently (English, Spanish, Russian, as well as horrible Japanese) but can fake my way through a couple more.

I currently reside in Texas with my amazing wife and my tremendously large but lovable dog.

  3. Ohhh! I’ve had a great dane years ago! I still miss him. Big lovable lumbering sweethearts!
Here is a video made by a PUMA member I saw today that really drove home for me why I will NEVER support Obama. Anyone who uses hatred of women to “win” cannot have my vote. I work in a women’s shelter and have been an activist for women’s causes all over the world. There is NO excuse for his arrogance and harmful behavior. Please watch this POWERFUL video that uses quotes from Hillary’s speech in Beijing.

  4. I’m passing this along in case anyone wants to protest during his bus tour. Please blog or share. I live in the Dallas, TX area and probably can go to a Texas stop. If you want to join me, leave a reply.

Howard Dean to Take Bus Tour of the South

WASHINGTON — Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean is embarking on a voter registration bus tour he hopes will help push Dixie to the Democrats.

Dean’s trip begins Thursday in President Bush’s hometown of Crawford, Texas, riding an eye-catching bus wrapped in the red, white and blue of presidential candidate Barack Obama’s campaign logo.

    Dean’s travel plans include:

    – A drive from Crawford to Austin on Thursday.

    – Stops Friday in New Orleans and the Mississippi cities of Hattiesburg and Jackson.

    – Visits to the Louisiana cities of Shreveport and Baton Rouge on Saturday.

    – On July 25, three stops are planned in North Carolina — Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte.

    – July 26 takes him to Georgia for visits to Savannah, Macon and Atlanta.

    – In August, the bus is scheduled to make stops in Midwest swing states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana before it heads to Denver for the Democrat National Convention, which opens Aug. 25.

  10. I’m overwhelmed at the story of Alma Sanford and the state of the Democratic Party in Tennessee. I’m especially intrigued by this comment in your blog:

Alma pretty well sums it up: “[I]t’s not my party anymore. They have put poison in the well, and have run the older women out of the party.”

I’d like to write about this on my blog
    http://www.unbrokencircles.com/blog4/

I used your link [at "sums it up"] but it was a dead link. I went to your source –Tennessee Guerilla Woman — where she has the same dead link.

I’ve left a comment on her site trying to get the original source to quote. Do you happen to have anything more on the source? Pehaps it got too many hits and had to shut down.

    Thanks, Elaine

  11. I’d like to be added to your list as well please. http://twentyfiveyears.wordpress.com/

  12. But how can humans and gorillas have a common ancestor when the Bible says that God created Adam in His own image. He created man and the animals. Not He created a common ancestor that evolved into man and the animals. Not trying to fuss; I just don’t agree.

  13. 25,

I can understand that. I don’t claim to understand the mysteries and the mechanisms of God. Perhaps he created Adam thru a process of Evolution, perhaps the Adam and Eve story is an allegory, perhaps God made Adam in his own image by breaking humans off into another branch of the evolutionary tree and made him in his own image then.

    I don’t know… no one does.

My only point is that there is no doubt what so ever at all that evolution happened, but the FACT of evolution and the fainth of Christianity are not mutually exclusive concepts.

    have a great day.

  14. Living and working in Austin and as a life long Democrat, the decision to support McCain/ Palin and oppose Obama/ Biden was easy intellectually but difficult emotionally until I realized that the Democratic Party I had supported all these years, through good candidates and bad, no longer reflects the political or social values that are important to me. It is good to know that even in Central Texas there are others who have reached the same place.

  15. thanks honestlawyer,

i feel exactly the same way.

  16. honestlawyer,

    Ditto from the Gulf Coast.
