Hey, Obama… the Keating 5; I Don’t Think That Means What You Think It Does?

Apparently Obama is a bit frightened of the coming hardball game that McCain and his crew are gearing up for.  So much so that Obama is telegraphing a move he could make as a warning to McCain…

The Keating 5.

From the AP

Barack Obama’s allies warn that John McCain’s attacks on the Democrat’a character will lead to the political equivalent of mutual assured destruction: fire your big weapon at your own peril.

Several Obama surrogates said his supporters may start reminding voters of McCain’s ties to Charles Keating, a convicted savings and loan owner whose actions two decades ago triggered a Senate ethics investigation that involved McCain as one of the “Keating Five.”

Well, it seems that Obama fulfilled the promise and quietly released a youtube video on the subject called Keating Economics.

For those of you that are not familiar, the Keating 5 is a term that refers to a group of 5 Senators that were accused of corrupt dealings with a banker named Keating during the “Savings and Loan Crisis” of the 80′s.

The group of Senators was comprised of 4 Democrats and 1 Republican…  John McCain.

Only problem is that John McCain (as well as John Glenn) was completely exonerated of any wrong doing what-so-ever by the Special Prosecutor Robert Bennet and recommended removing John McCain from any further investigation.

The problem was that removing John McCain would remove the only Republican from the corruption case and politically the Democrats in power could not afford to have 3 of their Senators sit up there alone, going down in flames for shady dealings.

Against the wishes of the Special Prosecutor, the Democratic Chair of the Ethics Committee kept McCain’s name on the list and gave him what essentially amounted to a scowl and a wagging finger.  The committee decided that McCain’s actions “were not improper nor attended with gross negligence,” about which McCain said…  “I see it as a full exoneration”

.

Yeah, so let’s tell that story Barry…  about how John McCain is a good and honorable man, yet there were 3 DEMOCRATIC Senators at the center of the “Savings and Loan Crisis.”

Yeah, Barry, lets talk about how wonderfully the Democrats have handled the banking institutions…  there couldn’t possibly be a parallel to today’s problems could there?

I dare you to keep pushing this meme…

Keep talking about the corrupt Democrats and the uncorruptable John McCain.  Yeah, do that…  Keep talking…

I double dog dare you.

Even Saturday Night Live knows the Democrats are the root of the cause…

Oh, and lest I forget about the Keating 3

Three of… the Keating Five have endorsed Obama: Former senators Dennis DeConcini. John Glenn, and Donald W. Riegle. All three are Democrats… and DeConcini and Riegle were among the more deeply implicated officials.

  1. This thing is going to get dirty, unbelievably dirty. Consider the depths tio which Obama and his followers have already shown themselves willing to sink in order to destroy enemies.

If the truth about Obama’s associations (Rezko, Wright, etc.) is presented to mainstream America in the right way, it has the power to stop his rise, even now. So his cult will pull out all the stops. The ugliest slanders, the foulest slime, will be deployed.

And maybe it will be their undoing. These people’s Achilles heel is that they have no self-restraint, even in the cause of self-interest. Remember how their campaign of insults against Clinton and her supporters helped solidify the PUMA movement. Remember how they wouldn’t stop their sweaty public fantasizing about Palin’s daughter even when Obama himself (rather feebly) told them to stop.

So, yes, they’ll keep pushing Keating. They’ll push other lies and distortions they can be caught in. To them, any person standing in Obama’s path is not a human being but a symbol of evil to be destroyed by any means necessary. The trouble is, they’ve lost all sense of how that looks to people who don’t share their mania.

  2. It’s called ” grasping at straws “,

  3. Many of them have been pushing this for months now, even back in the rpimaries. Why they started back then I have no idea. The thing is that this information has been out for years and Obama is unknown. He still thinks that he can direct the discussion, yet his worker bees are working overtime to scrub information from the internet connecting him to Ayers. There is something there and he is afraid of it. I’ve spent two days now digging and others have spent much more time. My search was started because of a mention about the Brinks robbery and the weather underground. There is almost no information about Obama durring the time around this robbery, yet both he an Ayers were in the same city it happened in. One newstory says that Dohrn, Ayers wife was still the head of the weather underground at the time. There are interesting pieces of information that can be found despite the scrubbing. It is time for the RNC to look into Obama’s first political speech while he was at Occidental college and connect those dots.

  4. Actually if you check your facts, McCain was not exonerated but censured by the Senate Ethics Committee.

    VERY well documented…

  5. Actually Mr Barker,

The accusation was total shit and politically motivated as explained above.

Oh, and i am sure wiki has been carefully edited to make it look worse than it really was…

everyone knew it was crap and that the only reason he was up there was so that there werent 4 Democrats sitting there by themselves.

  6. McCain completely exonerated of all wrongdoing. Obama advisor, John Glenn, absolutely affirmed of wrongdoing (guilt).
But I am sure that Obama was unaware of this, or he was only 8 years old at the time…

  7. [...] The Obama campaign is trying to counter with accusations of racism and by rehashing a badly warped version of the Keating 5 story. [...]
