Stop The Spin – From RWL – More Lies From DKos…

These people should be ashamed…  they are either journalistically lazy and should lose their jobs or they twist the truth and should lose their jobs…

Either way, DKos is turning into a pit of falsehoods.

From RWL

The latest attempt to smear Governor Palin comes from Night Runner at Daily Kos (with an assist from CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, according to Brian Faughnan of the Weekly Standard Blog (I don’t watch CNN much these days).

To hear NR@DK and O’Brien tell it, Palin “cut the Special Education (Budget) by 62%….”

Read how this is a complete falsehood and she actually raised the Special Ed Budget by nearly 8%  HERE.

Liberal Left…  I no longer recognize thee.

Can Someone Please Tell Me…

I keep hearing Barack Obama talk about his years as a community organizer (which he did for only 3 years by the way) as some sort of wonderful thing that he was doing, and while an admirable profession…  can someone please tell me ONE thing he accomplished as a community organizer?

I mean, there are notable “Community Organizers” like Cesar Chavez and MLK…  and their accomplishments are obvious.  I am in no way downplaying the role that community organizers play in this country…

But what accomplishments did Barack have in his whopping 3 years doing that job?

Did he help bring any businesses into South Side Chicago?  Did he organize labor for better pay or treatment?

Did he do something other than register people to vote through ACORN (which is now under investigation for a variety of things btw.)

If so, please provide the information, beause I can’t find it.  I hear lots of talk about how he was a community organizer in the “shadow of the steel mills” on the southside of Chicago…  but not about how he even made one person’s life any better?

And don’t give me a list of the bills he “passed” as a State Senator (regardless of the fact that he didn’t pass one bill in his first 5 years in that office)….

I want to know what he did as a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER.  Seriously.  If someone can please tell me, I would be most appreciative.

Stop The Spin: “Palin Cut Funds To Help Teen Moms”

I saw this in the Washington Post today, only to be repeated by Debbie Wasserman-Shultz (who I do admire greatly) on Larry King Live and was surprised.

After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation — “SP” — Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.

This did not jive with what I had read about Palin earlier in the day.  She is very supportive of social services to women so that they can work and finish school.  She is a member of Feminists For Life that advocates for that very thing.

This also had the smell of a hit piece to it…  a bit convenient, especially in light of her daughters situation.

And so I decided to look it up…  and sure enough, Palin did reduce the amount allocated to the Covenant House from the proposed $5M to $3.9M…

BUT I also found out that she reallocated those funds to various food banks as well as other social services.all over the state that were getting nothing in the bill sent to Palin.

Then a friend, Boudicca, found this little tidbit…. turns out that the Covenant House was given $1.2M the year before… (here)

.

If “slashing” indicates giving a 300% increase in funding…  sign me up!  “Slash” my paycheck!  Please!!!

.

.

Please, while accusations are flying around…  especially those about Palin for right now…  look into them, vett them, as you should vett her.

The more I look at her, the more normal she gets.

Don’t buy into the spin and the soundbites.  Look it up for yourself.

“I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids’ public education better. When I ran for city council, I didn’t need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too. Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves…

I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities.

“Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America’s energy problems – as if we all didn’t know that already. But the fact that drilling won’t solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we’re going to lay more pipelines…build more nuclear plants…create jobs with clean coal…and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers.”

“Here’s how I look at the choice Americans face in this election. In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.”

This lady is a ringer and a bad ass.
