McCain/Palin Raises $7 Million In One Day

WaPo

Sen. John McCain has taken in $7 million in contributions since announcing Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, a top campaign aide said today.

The money bounce may owe to Palin’s appeal with conservative donors, many of whom said privately they had planned on sitting out the campaign this year. The money comes in just under the wire — after McCain accepts the GOP nomination Thursday, he will accept public funds and no longer be permitted to raise private money for the campaign.

That will not, however, stop McCain and Palin from raising money for the Republican National Committee. In coming weeks, McCain will host four megafundraising events in major cities aimed at bolstering the accounts of the party. Palin, meanwhile, will be sent out to headline more than a dozen fundraising events for the RNC.Sen. John McCain has taken in $7 million in contributions since announcing Gov. 1. What qualifies her to be VP, not to mention President?
Well, she can shoot a rifle – - hope her aim is better than Cheney’s!

First I was embarrassed for the GOP picking such a candidate.
Now I feel sorry for the die-hard Republicans, who have to go
to sleep at night and try to convince themselves that McCain made
    a good choice.

  2. One thing I think should not be underestimated, 1.5-3.5 million Clinton voters (I think it will be more) is nothing to scoff at. While Palin may have been under the scope for 2 years, the circumstances of the past week couldn’t have played in better to her selection.

I think Palin’s selection was a ‘kill three birds’ with one stone move.

1 Energize the conservative base (which I think Romney would have done)
2 Attract disaffected Hillary/Bill supporters (which I think Romney would NOT have done)
3 Rip the hopey changey thing out from under Obama (which I think Romney would NOT have done)

ok 4 birds. No one will talk about Obama like that again. No more love fest.

If you notice the image on McCain’s site, it now says “Country First – Reform, Prosperty, Peace” where have I heard Peace and Prosperity before? oh yeah, Bill Clinton. He’s really trying to attract Clintonites because he knows Obama is too far left. He’s made a nice little guest bedroom for us and now he will invite us in by exposing Obama’s radical views.

Selecting Palin was not a token selection, McCain is a maverick, not an idiot.

I will make a bold prediction and you all can tell me if you think I’m wrong or if you agree -
I think by this time next week McCain will be ahead in the polls by at least 5 points and it won’t slip down again.

  3. Palin=The best of all worlds in my view, for VP.
Moderate John McCain should be able to go to sleep
at night just fine, as far as I’m concerned, reassured
and happy with his VP pick.
If I can’t have Hillary, I’ll take Palin. The Democratic Party,
I’m sure, by now, knows why.
    I own my vote.

  4. A woman with executive experience, which McCain, Biden and Obama don’t possess, is as smart a choice as he could have made.

While Obama coyly batted his eyes, and gave little hints about what surprise the VP pick would be (and then he picked Biden, affectionately known as Socks), McCain actually DID pick a “surprise” candidate, with very little advance fanfare.

McCain has been very smart in this campaign so far, he basically takes what Obama and does the opposite, it’s worked out great for him, so far.

I’m going to wait and see how McCain and the GOP respond to the inevitable sexism in the media and the O/B campaign, which will be aimed at Palin.

If they offer a vigorous and principled defense (I don’t worry about Palin herself, like Hillary, she seems tough and unflappable), then they have won my vote.

It’s heartening that McCain is seeing his pick validated fiscally. LOL, no comment from the O/B campaign about their fundraising numbers after the Barackaganza.

  5. Palin is polling better than Biden.

I find it amusing that Obamabots are questioning Palin’s experience. What has he done beside run for office? Not much.

This is proof they have nothing else.

  7. I’m very exciited, and couldn’t be happier that McCain chose Palin!
