Ok, So Now That We Know Who Obama’s Pick Is… What About McCain?

So, now that Obama has had his cards inadvertantly shown before he could “text” all his little obots the news first so they could be cool and involved and insiders…  the next question is “Who is McCain going to pick?”

There is certainly going to be outrage in the Democratic party that it was not Hillary.  Half her supporters are already saying they aren’t voting for Obama…  now, maybe the other half won’t either as reports leak out that the Obama campaign didn’t even bother to vett her…  at all!!!

The pundits are trying to push the meme that the next few days are going to be all about Biden…  they’re wrong.  The next few days are going to be ALL ABOUT Hillary…  why she was snubbed and why she wasn’t chosen.

How do you not pick the person that was only 49 delegates behind you?  I can tell you this, it’s a surefire way to piss them off and have a rumble at the Convention.

So, now that we know that Obama is an idiot who chooses to continue to split the party and insult the Clintons, we turn our attention to McCain.

McCain has 2 options…  go with the standard conservative white male OR he could very well go for the shocker…

option 1 – conservative white male

romney…  and that’s about it.

option 2 – the shocker, and here is where it gets interesting…

A.  Lieberman – great way to solidify the middle, he reaches into the Democratic Party, would probably sew up New Hampshire, it reaches out to Indys big time…  and offers an olive branch to the pro-choice community, not to mention the extremely influential and donation heavy Jewish community.

B.  Palin – the Governor of Alaska.  Female.  A McCain style fiscal conservative (spending controls are key), great on the environment, great on energy, very intelligent, charming, quick witted, and a clinger to guns and religion.  Also a former Miss Alaska, and still a very attractive woman (which does not hurt.)  She is the closest person to McCain policy wise that I can think of.  This is also a HUGE reachout to the disaffected Clintonistas, and would pose none of the problems with the rnc base that someone like Lieberman would.

I know he is probably going to pick Romney…  But I am certainly hoping for Palin, I must admit.

While Lieberman would be a big middle finger to the DNC (especially since they tried to get McCain to crossover in 2004), it would really stick in Obama’s craw if McCain picked Palin.  And I would find that much more satisfying.

It’s Official: CNN Reports Joe Biden Is VP Choice.

I LOVE BIDEN….

BUT

Horrible choice.  Bad, bad, bad, bad.

The Times UK: “Yes, We Can?” Make That “Oops We May Not.” Cancel The Coronation…

There is an absolutely fantastic article in the Times about the race between Obama and McCain…  just amazing.  I encourage everyone to read it.

There’s trouble in paradise. Cancel the coronation. Send back the commemorative medals. Put those “Yes We Can” T-shirts up on eBay. Keep the Change.

Barack Obama’s historic procession to the American presidency has been rudely interrupted. The global healing he promised is in jeopardy. If you’re prone to emotional breakdown, you might want to take a seat before I say this. He might not win.

How can it be, you ask? Didn’t we see him just last month speaking to 200,000 adoring Germans in Berlin? Didn’t he get the red carpet treatment in France – France of all places? Doesn’t every British politician want to be seen clutching the hem of his garment?

All true. But as cruel geography and the selfish designs of the American Founding Fathers would have it, Europeans don’t get to choose the US president. Somewhere along the way to the Obama presidency, somebody forgot to ask the American people.

And wouldn’t you know it, they insist on looking this gift thoroughbred in the mouth. Who’d have thought it? You present them with the man who deigns to deliver them from their plight and they want to sit around and ask hard questions about who he is and what he believes and where he might actually take the country. The ingrates!

The is so much more to the article…  very insightful and a great read.  Highly recommend.

Obama To Announce VP Choice Tomorrow Morning… And It’s Not Clinton/Kaine?

From CNN

Sen. Barack Obama’s choice for running mate will be announced to supporters in a text message Saturday morning, senior Obama campaign officials told CNN on Friday night, and a senior party official said it won’t be Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Sen. Barack Obama says he has decided on his running mate but is not yet ready to reveal the name.

Sen. Barack Obama says he has decided on his running mate but is not yet ready to reveal the name….

….A senior Democratic official who had spoken with Clinton told CNN late Friday that the Obama campaign has communicated to her through private channels that she will not be Obama’s vice presidential pick.
….Also, sources close to Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine said he has been informed he was not selected. One source told CNN that Obama personally made the call to Kaine.
Ok, so let me get this straight…
I would not be surprised if he didn’t pick Clinton.  The Obama’s made it ABUNDANTLY clear that they don’t like the Clintons.  I think NOT picking Clinton is a deathknell for Obama’s chances.  He has not united the party, and it doesn’t look like he will.  About half of Hillary’s supporters will not vote for Obama according to recent polls.  The “new people” that he brought into the party, like the youth vote, are losing enthusiasm quick, further dropping Obama’s polling numbers.
Kaine is a horrendous choice.  He is a freshman Governor and pro-choice.  So it would exasterbate the people worried about Obama’s experience level, and put a huge thumb in the eye of female Democrats.  It’s the inexperienced express to a Mondale sized loss.
Bayh gains him nothing.  Obama is not winning Indiana…  it just won’t happen and Bayh doesn’t get him that.  Bayh is a political softie as well.  He was given a keynote in the 1996 Convention and was moved back later in the night because he refused to harden up the speech against the Republicans.  His speech also flopped…  big time.  Obama needs an attack dog for a VP so that he can maintain his appearances of being above it all.
Chet Edwards is a HORRENDOUS choice.  He would have to be introduced to the country because no one knows who the hell he is.  He is a VERY conservative Democrat as well.  It gains him ZERO and probably would only make lots of people angry.  In addition, Chet is a CONGRESSMAN from TEXAS.  Well, Congressmen have no executive experience, so it doesn’t help with managerial experience.  Obama is not winning Texas…  period.  And there is no foreign policy credentials to be gained from him.  So, Obama gains nothing AND would have to spend time introducing him.  Not happening.
Richardson is not happening.  While Richardson is a very good and very well qualified statesman, he is not a leader…  at all.  Ambassador, Secretary of State, NSA, but not VP.
And then there is Biden.  I must say that I really like Joe Biden.  A lot.  But I am a poltical wonk.  He is not well known to the general public and would have to be introduced, though certainly not to the extent that someone like Chet Edwards would need.  Biden has ZERO appeal.  He is a competent statesman, but he is certainly not inspirational in anyway.  And while Biden can be a bit of a pittbull, he comes off like “Dad”…  and would be percieved as Obama’s metaphorical “Dad.”  Not a good image.
I will say right now, that whoever Obama picks…  at this point…  if it is not Clinton, Obama is screwed.

Retraction: Debt Relief Far Less Than Projected

Keeping my promise to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, I must retract a previous statement.

In Mid July I reported that Will Bower had a source inside or very close to the Clinton camp that passed along fundraising information for the July 4th PumaPush intended to help Hillary pay off her campaign debt.

Based upon information from the source, Bower reported that PUMA’s had raised $4-6 million

We now know that the figure is far less, ranging between $2 to $3 million.  While still a tidy sum, not nearly what was hoped for or expected.

I have deleted the previous article from my site to prevent any confusion on this matter.

I also encourage everyone that can spare a few dollars to contribute to Hillary Clinton’s debt relief HERE
