It’s not the way John McCain wanted to start his vacation. After saying yesterday he wasn’t sure how many houses he and his wife own, Barack Obama attacked McCain over his understanding of the economy. “Somebody asked John McCain, ‘how many houses do you have?’ and he said, ‘I’m not sure. I’ll have to check with my staff.’ True quote!” Obama said today at rally in Virginia. “By the way, the answer is John McCain has seven homes. So there’s just a fundamental gap of understanding between John McCain’s world and what people are going thru every single day here in America.”
Great slam of McCain, right? Right on target… made a connection… gave a little ouchey to McCain.
But then there is the response from McCain…

The McCain camp fired back that it’s Obama who is “out of touch” with average Americans. “Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?” McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said. “Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people ‘cling’ to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?”
OUCH. Obama touched a nerve there, but the retort from McCain’s camp has got to hurt. Real bad.

Hell, Obama is only “middle class” by McCain’s own definition (rich=$5 million).

To be fair, that $5million comment is a complete over simplification of what McCain actually said.
I try to be decently fair and objective about the things presented. Warped talking points do no one any good and that is one of the reasons I started this blog… to tell people what is not being told in the media.
